Independent volume and mute controls for detected audio apps, right in your Mac menu bar. Requires macOS 14.2 or later.
Where is the app window?
VolMix lives in the menu bar and does not show a Dock icon. Click its slider icon at the top-right of your screen to open the mixer. The gear button opens Preferences; the power button quits VolMix.
How do I get started?
- Play ordinary, unprotected audio in an app and open VolMix from the menu bar.
- Lower that app's slider below 100% or click its mute button.
- Allow the system-audio capture permission requested by macOS. Audio processing stays on your Mac.
Why is an app missing or not adjustable?
Start playback so macOS exposes its audio process. Protected audio, unusual routing, and some output devices may not support per-app control. Try an unprotected local file with the Mac's built-in speakers to check your setup. VolMix controls apps, not individual browser tabs, and does not amplify audio above 100%.
What if I denied audio permission?
Open System Settings → Privacy & Security and locate the screen/system-audio recording permission section; the name varies with macOS. Enable VolMix and relaunch it if macOS requests this. The permission is used to adjust app audio, not to capture screen images or microphone input.
What if an app becomes silent or sounds distorted?
Return its VolMix slider to 100% and unmute both the app and the master output. Confirm the source app is playing and the expected output device is selected. If the problem continues, quit VolMix using its power button to release its audio processing, then check playback again. Send the app, device, macOS version, and any displayed error to support.
Does output switching work for each app?
The device selector changes the system output device. It does not route different apps to different devices. Master volume and mute depend on the device's software-control support; some digital outputs require volume adjustment on the hardware.
How do I change the language?
Open Preferences → General and choose English, 简体中文, or Follow System. The app changes language immediately and remembers your choice. This website has its own language selector above.
Is there a subscription or a restore-purchase button?
No. VolMix is a paid-upfront Mac App Store app with no subscription or required in-app purchase. To reinstall it, use the App Store with the Apple Account used for the original purchase. There is no in-app purchase or restore screen.
Does VolMix record or upload audio?
No. Application audio is processed temporarily in memory on your Mac. VolMix does not save recordings or upload audio. See the VolMix Privacy Policy for local settings, Apple services, support emails, and website information.

如何开始使用？
- 让一个应用播放普通、未受保护的音频，再从菜单栏打开 VolMix。
- 将该应用的滑块调至 100% 以下，或点击它的静音按钮。
- 允许 macOS 请求的系统音频捕获权限。音频始终在本机处理。
为什么找不到某个应用，或无法调整它？
先开始播放，让 macOS 能检测到其音频进程。受保护音频、特殊音频路由和部分输出设备可能不支持独立控制。可先用 Mac 内置扬声器播放未受保护的本地文件检查设置。VolMix 按应用控制，不单独控制浏览器标签页，也不提供超过 100% 的音量放大。
之前拒绝了音频权限怎么办？
打开“系统设置 → 隐私与安全性”，找到屏幕或系统音频录制权限项目；具体名称随 macOS 版本变化。启用 VolMix，如系统要求则重新启动应用。此权限用于调整应用音频，不用于捕获屏幕图像或麦克风输入。
如果应用突然无声或声音失真怎么办？
先将其 VolMix 音量恢复为 100%，并取消应用和主输出的静音。确认源应用正在播放，且已选择正确的输出设备。如仍有问题，点击电源按钮退出 VolMix，释放其音频处理后再检查播放。请把应用、设备、macOS 版本及界面显示的错误发给支持。
能为不同应用分别选择输出设备吗？
设备选择器更改系统输出设备，不会把不同应用分别送到不同设备。主音量和静音功能取决于设备是否支持软件控制；部分数字输出需要在硬件上调节音量。
如何切换语言？
打开“设置 → 通用”，选择“简体中文”“English”或“跟随系统”。切换即时生效并保存。本网站顶部的语言选择器单独控制网站语言。
需要订阅或在应用里恢复购买吗？
不需要。VolMix 在 Mac App Store 一次付费下载，无需订阅或应用内购买。重新安装时，请在 App Store 使用最初购买的 Apple 账户重新下载。VolMix 内没有购买或恢复购买页面。
VolMix 会录制或上传音频吗？
不会。应用音频只在 Mac 内存中临时处理，不保存录制，也不上传音频。本地设置、Apple 服务、支持邮件和网站信息的处理方式见 VolMix 隐私政策。
